God’s To-Do List

Posted by susanb99 on December 1, 2007

December 1, 2007 — God’s To-do List: 103 Ways to Be an Angel and Do God’s Work on Earth is a book written by Ron Wolfson, the president of Synagogue 3000 whose purpose is “empowering congregations and communities to create synagogues that are sacred and vital centers of Jewish life.” Jewish life does not include Jesus Christ, the Savior and the Messiah. Rick Warren has endorsed Wolfson’s book and is a supporter of the writing of the book as seen in the Acknowledgement section (page ix).

The book starts off with occult/contemplative/New Age thought:

What does it mean to be made in the image of God? It means that the spark of divinity is within you. (page 1)

No, we are not born with a “spark of divinity”. We are dead in sin (Ephesians 2) until GOD regenerates us through Jesus Christ only.

Wolfson also claims

God needs you… God can’t do it alone. That’s why God created you… God depends on you to be an angel… you are God’s agent on earth… And when you perform an act of kindness, no matter how small, you bring God’s presence into the world, into your world. (page 2)

Wolfson believes that God created us in order to assist Him to make this world a better place, to “perform acts of kindness”. Wolfson’s theology is skewed to say the least. He believes that good works or acts of kindness are sufficient to do “God’s work”. He bases his beliefs on the “spark of divinity” we supposedly were born with. This unbiblical works-based New Age thought should not be supported by any Christian. Warren’s endorsement of such a book shows his propensity toward occult/New Age thought and good works as the way to heaven, which completely negates and circumvents the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
